How to change the time and date formats in WordPress?

Let’s face it: Not everyone lives in San Francisco.

That being said, it would be sensible if your WordPress website changes the time and date automatically according to your location.

Sadly, they don’t.

You need to manually click a few buttons for less than a minute to change both your time and date format.

So today let’s teach you how to change the time and date format in your WordPress website.

Steps to change the time zone

  • Go to Settings and choose General.

  • You will find a whole list of things you can customize: Site title, Tagline, URL –everything!
  • Scroll down to the part where Time zone starts to appear.

  • As instructed, start typing the name of the city with the same time zone as yours. Just a few letters and you will find the city you are looking for.
  • Click on your desired city and congratulations, you have successfully changed your timezone!
  • Now let’s change the time format as well.

  • Go to Settings and choose General.
  • Scroll down to the part where you can change the time formats.
  • You can choose between 12 hrs format or 24 hrs format or customize your format. The preview will be shown as you click or type.

  • To change the way dates appear, you can choose from the variety of formats such as Date/Month/Year, Month/Date/Year or customize it.

  • Lastly, don’t forget to click on the big blue button Save Changes!
